Defending the Cow

Many years ago, I heard a tidbit passed as fact that sounded about as full of, well, bullshit as anything I'd heard in my life. Just google "cows as methane sources" and see the citations of this phenomenon pop up. Don't get me wrong; I'm not anti-science, and the scientists who have done these studies need to know that I mean them no harm. Their data is valuable, but only if it is applied in ways that don't get hijacked by philosophical forces on a crusade against the cow itself.

Should Democracy Be Compulsory?

Hi, my dear navel gazers! Here's our gazillionth installment of impossibly simplistic and hilariously polarized situations, inspired by the NationStates online game, the place where you're the benevolent Dear Leader of your fictional country which you're of course totally free to run either to the ground or raise to greatness. Last time we had a hypothetical situation, we found out that the best way to distract the public attention from the private scandals of politicians is... tax cuts! Yay for Sen. Edward Johns! The timing of that poll was so ironic btw... Although it took place a couple of months ago, it sounds pretty up to date today, dontchathink?

Aaaanyway. Here's the new situation, which is much in line with a recent string of posts on the election topic...
