Jumpy beasts

It also shows a lack of critical thinking capacity

Inverted flag shows national distress
We fly our American flag upside down. I know this may sound disrespectful to some of you, but let us explain our motivations. In Section 8, Article A of the American Legion’s “code of flag etiquette,” it states that flying the flag upside down is recognized as a sign of distress, or as a threat to life or one’s personal property.

We feel that our lives and personal property are being threatened by the Obama administration, as they seemingly wish to do away with all that we hold dear as Americans. What have we seen in this first year of his administration? A brazen attempt to limit free speech, redistribute wealth, control private-sector enterprise, surrender our national sovereignty, remove our firearms (HR45), tax our breath and promote a global governance.

We’ve received much criticism, angry visitation and undue police surveillance. To all of you we would like to say, wake up! Our country is in grave danger! This administration is chock full o’ Marxists, including the president himself!

Many issues can be focused on, however, according to the latest Rasmussen poll, 56 percent of us agree that the United States is in distress. We wish no disrespect toward any service members, our flag or our country. We are patriots who invite each of you to join us and fly your flag upside down as well. We are thousands strong! God bless America!
It seems like every time I come across someone, be it LJ or the real world who actually uses terms like Marxist, I realize they're fricking morons. But maybe their brains are stuck in the 1950's like some Reefer Madness time loop. The comments section is bonus lulz.

Of course, this is happening in Montana, the same place where they're trying to define fertilized eggs as persons. Gotta love those stealth abortion-banning amendments!

Majority of Republicans Doubt Theory of Evolution

PRINCETON, NJ -- The majority of Republicans in the United States do not believe the theory of evolution is true and do not believe that humans evolved over millions of years from less advanced forms of life. This suggests that when three Republican presidential candidates at a May debate stated they did not believe in evolution, they were generally in sync with the bulk of the rank-and-file Republicans whose nomination they are seeking to obtain.

Independents and Democrats are more likely than Republicans to believe in the theory of evolution. But even among non-Republicans there appears to be a significant minority who doubt that evolution adequately explains where humans came from.

I really struggle with this. Here we are, in the beginnings of the 21st century CE and still, in the most powerful country on the planet, there are still large numbers of people who deliberately ignore clear and explicit facts, or refuse to even entertain them.

Overwhelmingly people use their religious faith as a justification for why they don't believe in the facts as we have discovered them. This is seriously bizarre. What on earth is wrong with accepting that religious texts are a contribution to human spirituality, rather than a supposed eternal descriptive textbook of reality.

You can still have your religious faith and accept evolution, y'know...

Don't feel too strongly about this issue but....

Since Leftists have been in the full on "Blame Bush First" mode over the last few years....and believe that Abstinence-Only supporters ignore empirical evidence....I wonder if any them will revise their opinions in light of this new study?

Some highlights.....
"Sex education classes that focus on encouraging children to remain abstinent can persuade a significant proportion to delay sexual activity, researchers reported Monday in a landmark study that could have major implications for U.S. efforts to protect young people against unwanted pregnancies and sexually transmitted diseases."

"The study is the first to evaluate an abstinence program using a carefully designed approach comparing it with several alternative strategies and following subjects for an extended period of time, considered the kind of study that produces the highest level of scientific evidence."

"The abstinence program had no negative effects on condom use, which has been a major criticism of the abstinence approach."

At least Obama seems open-minded about it and is willing to renege on his previous stance....will his supporters do likewise?
